PGP Encryption Tool
OpenPGP, or Pretty Good Privacy is an open standard for encrypting data. Unlike symmetric-key cryptography where both parties exchanging an encrypted message share one cryptographic key, PGP utilizes public-key cryptography. Under public-key cryptography, each party has a “public” key and a “private” key. Since any message encrypted by a public key can be decrypted with the corresponding private key, one can publish their public key and any messages encrypted with that public key can only be decrypted by the owner of the private key. Because of this, implementations of the OpenPGP standard remain a popular method for encrypting communications.
The tool below is designed to allow you to experiment with public-key cryptography by providing you with a method for encrypting messages using an OpenPGP public key. Simply enter the message you would like to encrypt as well as the recipient’s public key and then click on “Encrypt”. Once the button has been pressed, the encrypted form of your message will be displayed in the output box below.
